Your goal: the OQLF exam, specific to Quebec
Are you planning to settle in Quebec, or do you already live there?
To practise a regulated profession in Quebec, you have to prove your command of French, and that is what the OQLF exam is for. It is specific to Quebec: if you already live there or are planning to move there, I can help.
The exam is free, but it is intimidating: 4 activities, including a filmed group discussion and a recorded interview, to pass in the same session. During the free discovery lesson, we look together at where you stand and how to train.

It is not a skills problem
Everyday French and professional French are not the same thing: technical vocabulary, how to write a note or a handover, workplace culture, credibility when speaking. That is the French we work on together, based on your real situations.

Today
You search for your words in front of others
You avoid speaking up in meetings
You doubt your legitimacy, even with experience
You are preparing for your exam without knowing what is expected of you
What we build together
You express yourself clearly in your work context
You speak up with more assurance
You feel legitimate in your professional French
You arrive at your exam knowing how it works
This coaching is for you if…
It is for you
You are a professional and want to express yourself better in French at work
You prefer one-on-one coaching, tailored to your job and your goal
You are ready to practise between sessions
You are preparing for the OQLF and want a clear method and precise feedback
It is not for you
You are looking for a guarantee of passing the exam: nobody can give one
You want a group class at a fixed time
You are looking for a general French course unrelated to your job
You have no time to devote to practice
My story
I am a nurse, trained in France. I practised in France, Switzerland and Quebec before settling in Alberta.
French is my mother tongue, but in each country I had to adapt to a different professional French: the vocabulary, how to write notes and fill in files, workplace culture. With every move, I had to prove my competence all over again, including through language assessments.
Then I arrived in an English-speaking province, where this time I had to prove my English. So I know exactly what it feels like to have the skills but not yet the words to show them.

Frequently asked questions
What level of French do I need to get started?
It does not matter where you are starting from. The free discovery lesson is there precisely to take stock and build a path from what you already know.
How is this different from a regular French class?
Regular classes are often taught in groups, at a fixed time. Here, the coaching is one-on-one, at your pace, and focused on your professional French: your vocabulary, your work situations and your goal.
Can I prepare for the OQLF exam with you?
Yes. The preparation follows the structure of the exam and trains you with cases inspired by your job. It does not guarantee success, but it gives you a method and precise feedback. You will find all the details on the OQLF exam prep page.
Are the sessions online or in person?
One-on-one sessions take place online anywhere in Canada. In-person sessions are possible in Calgary, including at your home, within a certain radius and with a travel fee.
Can I ask questions between sessions?
Yes. I answer by message 5 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What happens after the free discovery lesson?
You are under no obligation to continue. If the format suits you, we build a plan around your goal. If not, you still leave with a concrete experience of how I work.
